MotoGP is the premier motorcycle racing World Championship; an 18-race series visiting fourteen countries, four continents and with pan-global television coverage. Ten nationalities of the world’s most skilled riders line a grid armed with cutting-edge motorcycle technology with prototype machinery fielded by three manufacturers: Ducati, Yamaha and Honda. Established as a World Championship by the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) in 1949, MotoGP is now into its 65th year. It is the oldest motorsports championship in the world.
MotoGP has a rich history with Grand Prix events having taken place in every corner of the world throughout the last 65 years. More than 2.4 million people came through the gates of the circuits to watch MotoGP in 2013.
LCR HONDA MOTOGP TEAM
Lucio Cecchinello (former 125cc class rider) founded the LCR Team in 1996 setting up his own organisation and holding both roles of rider/manager. Over the years the LCR Team have gathered numerous successes in three different categories thanks to his collaboration with the major Manufacturers worldwide. Top level riders such as Noboru Ueda, Roberto Locatelli, Casey Stoner, Randy De Puniet, Carlos Checa, Toni Elias and so on lined up with LCR colors achieving important results culminating with the 250cc class Runner Up Award gained by the Australian talent C. Stoner in 2005. In 2006 LCR stepped up into the premier class with the support of Honda HRC and, in 2012, the Moto2 World Champion Stefan Bradl joined the Team conquering the “Rookie of the Year” title at his premier class debut. In 2013 the German riding the RC213V finally climbed the podium with an excellent 2nd place in Laguna Seca (USA).
